Thy will be done O God

O God
Make me submissive to thy will.
Let me be a vessel for the manifestation of thy glory.
Give me the strength and wisdom to stay on thy straight path.

What is the purpose of human life?

Life is a call to service, a submission to the will of God and upliftment of humanity. Unfortunately we fail to understand or appreciate this purpose and thereby spend our lives lost and in misery. We pursue carnal desire, selfishly seeking happiness as our goal; instead we receive disappointment and dissatisfaction. Worse yet, we repeat this cycle throughout our lives, learning nothing and not pausing to consider what or who we are and what our purpose in life is.

In order to appreciate ourselves and understand the purpose for which we were made, we must have a yearning to know more, learn to listen to that gentle voice deep down our innermost being, which keeps calling on us, seeking to remind us that we are more than our material manifestation, that we are of an origin far superior to what we see around us, and our potential far exceeds our imagination; if we seek ourselves in humility and truth, we will discover the inexhaustible treasure buried deep within us. All we need do is ask... seek... and knock...
Until we learn to listen to that voice, we are totally lost, in this material world and dead to our true essence. Going through cycles of birth and death. Indviduals who have discovered this truth are very much at peace within and with the world around them. They understand the temporary nature of the material world, a snare to the weak and I dare say these vibrant souls, offsprings of an eternal God, knowing who they are, already look forward to life beyond this material existence.
As a result of this understanding, these glorius souls exhaust themselves in the service of humanity, because they understand the lessons of nature around us, they understand what the sun, earth, moon and all of the universe says everyday to us, "arise O Child of the most high God and take your place in the eternal scheme of life".

Desiderata

Go placidly amid the noise and haste,
and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible without surrender
be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly;
and listen to others,
even the dull and the ignorant;
they too have their story.

Avoid loud and aggressive persons,
they are vexations to the spirit.
If you compare yourself with others,
you may become vain and bitter;
for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.

Keep interested in your own career, however humble;
it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs;
for the world is full of trickery.
But let this not blind you to what virtue there is;
many persons strive for high ideals;
and everywhere life is full of heroism.

Be yourself.
Especially, do not feign affection.
Neither be cynical about love;
for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment
it is as perennial as the grass.

Take kindly the counsel of the years,
gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune.
But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings.
Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.
Beyond a wholesome discipline,
be gentle with yourself.

You are a child of the universe,
no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.

Therefore be at peace with God,
whatever you conceive Him to be,
and whatever your labors and aspirations,
in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul.

With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams,
it is still a beautiful world.
Be cheerful.
Strive to be happy.
